Known also under the name “Madonna di Campagna”, the oratory is situated north of the village in proximity of the railway line Novara-Mortara. After scholars, its origin could likely be attributed to the last quarter of the XI century. Already mentioned for the first time in 1077 and later in 1181, the oratory has the nave with semicircular apse and wooden saddleback roofing. The oratory underwent many restoration works and deep changes over the centuries, without compromising, however, the original structure in an irreparable way. The walls are mostly constituted of bricks, which are horizontally ranged and aggregated with mortar. The present-day façade is a neo-classical style remake of 1908 and than modified. The interior is rich in valuable wall-paintings dating back to the XV century and entirely covering the apse zone and the left wall. The “Pietà”, placed in the central part of the apse and ascribable to early in the XV century, gives a big effect. The wall paintings depicting a Madonna with Child and a little Saint Helen are contemporary. The wall-painting by Tommaso Cagnola representing Saint Francis, who introduces the donor to a Madonna on the Throne with Child and two music-playing Angels, dates back to 1481. Notice the long scroll introducing, in Gothic letters, the customer, the painter and the painting date. The depiction of the Saint Eustacchio’s miracle is really important, as much that experts have recognized it as a work of great “historical-religious- esthetical” value for the author’s skilfulness to change the religious scene into a knightly one.
