The church was built around 1450 as subsidiary of the Beata Vergine Mariia church in the town centre. After it was abandoned for some time, in 1619 priest Franceso Sirone decided to rebuild it. The town and its population suffered great misfortune during the XVII century, delaying works that were finally completed in 1650. Above the lateral entrance we can read a couplet that testifies that people took the vow to build the church once the plague and war would have been over. The structure, inserted between the two lateral buildings, lacks of a façade, you can enter it only by lateral doors. It consists of a single nave, which was widened in 1705, surmounted by an octagonal-based dome with a small cupola. The decorations were made by Tarquino Grassi from Romagnano, who painted all the frescoes and canvases of the church, the best artefacts he created in his hometown. In 1683 Grassi depicts the fresco that decorates the dome, for free, as a gift to his fellow citizens. Then, in 1692 he depicts the fresco in the apse, the Coronation of the Virgin by the Trinity surrounded by heaven glory. Always in 1692, he also paints the five big canvases that are kept in the choir on the right, the Doctors Disputing in the centre, surrounded by the other four depicting the Evangelists Luca, Giovanni, Marco and Matteo. The artist will complete his works in 1710, with the altarpiece depicting Purgatory and the great Deposition of Christ, a dramatic painting.
