The Ancient oratory situated north along the Sempione road is first mentioned in 1347 in occasion of the “Consignationes”. It is an orientated building with rectangular hall and semicircular apse. Traces of 15-century paintings representing Saint Michael, the escape to Egypt and the Annunciation are partially visible on the saddleback style façade. In its interior, the Christ Pantocretor and the apostles are painted in the apsidal conch, on the overlooking wall we can find an Annunciation and below a fine Madonna Del Latte ascribed to Joannes Maria de Rumo, a Painter of Oleggio with Polish origins by Flavia Fiori. The side walls are richly decorated with sacred images, here and there overlapped and dating back to the XV and XVI century. It is worth underlining that once a valuable wooden Gothic Madonna was preserved in the oratory and now exhibited at the Museo d’Arte Religiosa (Religious Art Museum) of Oleggio.
