The church was built according to the Visconti family will. Inside, the chapel on the right preserves a canvas attributed to Stefano Legnani, known as Legnanino (1661- 1713) representing the Congedo di Cristo dalla Vergine: Virgin Mary is depicted suffering, almost ready to faint, gently held by the Pious Women. The light that underlines the feelings on the faces and the Roman columns, hardly seen from the open windows, recall the elements of tragedy. In fact, the Baroque theatre used classic elements to create tragic scenes.
On the left altar appears the canvas depicting The Dream of Giuseppe, attributed to Giuseppe Mazzola from Valsesia (1748- 1838).
